Great points made Steve. I think too often marketers try to use cookie-cutter methods to market to Hispanics and what they must realize is that while all Hispanics have the Spanish language in common, there are many differences in food, music, and in some cases words used in Spanish that differ a lot. I touch upon this subject in my blog as well: http://rumbera.tumblr.com.

Hi Steve. I agree with you as well, there is so much opportunity in the Hispanic target market. I think before any company or agency decides to build campaigns, they should do deep research in the target market they want to target within the Hispanic market. I've seen many mistakes made by companies who communicated incorrectly. If you want to target Hispanic consumers, hire professionals or agencies who can do it but the important thing is first study their buying power and consumer behavior, then implement the right cultural communication process.

Great piece, Steve. While reaching the Hispanic market isn't so cookie-cutter, I feel we continue to hear the same 3-4 tips echoed continuously because some marketing decision makers still aren't listening. I know this because I still see sombreros and zarapes ill placed in ads or English ad translations in stead of educatedly communicating in the Spanish language.
